Can you run an Expert Advisor on a prop firm challenge? The rules to check first
Every prop firm writes its own rules, and a single broken rule can end a challenge or funded account. Before you run any Expert Advisor (EA), GIX-PROP included, read your firm’s current rules for these seven points. Ten minutes here is worth more than any setting.
In 30 seconds
- First question: does your firm allow Expert Advisors on your account type?
- Know the daily loss limit, the overall loss limit and exactly how each is measured.
- Check news, consistency and minimum-day rules, and how the firm treats identical trades.
- Following the rules is your responsibility; no software reads them for you.
1. Are Expert Advisors allowed on your account?
This is the rule that decides everything else. Many firms allow automated trading, some do not, and some allow it on one account type and restrict it on another. Read the current rules for the exact account you bought, not a forum post from last year.
If the rules are unclear, ask the firm’s support in writing before you start, and keep the answer.
2. The daily loss limit
The most the account may lose in one day. What matters is how your firm measures it: from the balance or the equity at the start of the day, whether open positions count, and at what time and in which time zone the day resets.
- Write down the limit and the reset time.
- Note whether floating losses on open trades count toward it.
- Set any software stop at or below that limit, with room to spare.

3. The overall loss limit (maximum drawdown)
The most the account may fall in total. Some firms fix it to the starting balance (static) and some move it up as the account grows (trailing). The difference changes how much room you really have, so check which one applies to you.
4. News trading and holding over the weekend
Some firms restrict opening or closing trades in a window around high-impact news, and some restrict holding positions over the weekend. Check both, and check whether they apply to the challenge, the funded account or both.
5. Consistency rules and minimum trading days
Some firms cap how much of the result may come from a single day or a single trade, and most require a minimum number of trading days before a phase can end. Neither is something a stop can manage for you.
6. Identical trades on other accounts
Other customers may run the same software, so similar trades can open on different accounts at about the same time. Many firms look for identical or copied trades across accounts and traders. Ask your firm how it treats this before you start.
7. How many accounts you may run
Many firms limit how many accounts one person may hold at a time, or the total capital across them. Check this before you add a second challenge.
Where GIX-PROP fits
GIX-PROP is designed around FTMO-style two-step challenge rules.
It trades EUR/USD only, with a built-in balance stop that you can set lower, never higher, and further protection layers that act before that limit. Set the stop at or below your firm’s daily loss limit.
It does not read your firm’s rules, and it does not know when your firm changes them. The checklist above stays yours.
Quick answers
Do prop firms allow Expert Advisors?
Many do and some do not, and the answer can differ between a challenge and a funded account. Your firm’s current written rules are the only answer that counts, so check them before you run any EA.
Which rules matter most for an EA on a challenge?
Whether EAs are allowed at all, the daily loss limit and how it is measured, the overall loss limit (static or trailing), news and weekend restrictions, consistency rules, minimum trading days and how the firm treats identical trades across accounts.
Is Gixodia a prop firm?
No. Gixodia sells software only. It is not a broker, a fund, an advisor or a prop firm, it sells no challenges and it never holds funds.
No software can guarantee a passed challenge, a kept account or a payout.
FTMO is named here only as the rule set GIX-PROP was designed around. Gixodia is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of FTMO or any other prop firm, and Gixodia is not a prop firm.
